| The
eLuna "Meal Appeal" project exists because of the loyal
folks who have gone to a great deal of effort raising funds for
this project. Here is the story of these contributors to this project. |

Shaarai
Tefila Synagogue of North Miami Beach, USA |
| |
The
Spring of 2002 was one of the low points in Israeli economic history.
The Israeli tourist infrastructure was disintegrating with hotels
and restaurants closing every day. Debbie Lichtman took matters
into hand. She launched a program through her synagogue, whereby
funds were raised to send Israeli fighting soldiers to Israeli kosher
restaurants. This project became the flag for our entire program.
Shaarai Tefila of North Miami Beach raised $10,000 for the program.
Vouchers for dinner for two at 14 different eLuna restaurants were
distributed to fighting soldiers from Golani 51. The program memorialized
Gedalya Mellick, a soldiers who fell in Jenin and a member of this
unit. More on this program
Remaining funds were used to host various groups of fighting soldiers.

Manchester
England "The Meal Appeal" |
| |
This
program was launched by Suzy Galaskie of Manchester England. Suzy
also developed the name for the entire project.
The program twins the kosher restaurants in Manchester with the
kosher restaurants in Israel. Visitors to the kosher restaurants
in Manchester were encouraged to aiding kosher restaurants in Israel
by funding dinners for soldiers at the Israeli restaurants. The
funds were pooled together with the other funds raised to give our
soldiers recognition while supporting the Israeli kosher restaurants.
Thank you for your work

Morrison
Bat Mitzva Tzedaka Drive. Detroit, Michigan |
| |
In
the Spring of 2003 Augusta Morrison celebrated her Bat Mitzva in
Detroit, Michigan. Israel is uppermost in the Morrison's thoughts
because Augusta's aunt Laura and her family made aliya and Augusta's
cousin Tomer serves in the IDF.
The family raised funds for a parallel Bat Mitzva party for Augusta,
that would be celebrated by the soldiers in Tomer's unit. Sufficient
funds were raised enabling us to host two celebration lunches for
two groups from the unit, and bring excellent business to two restaurants.
The first lunch was held at El Gaucho Restaurant, Ramat Gan, and
celebrated the completion of an intensive training period. The second
lunch was held at Ima Restaurant in Jerusalem for veteran fighting
soldiers.

eLuna
thanks all of the contributors to this project. We recognize all
the hard work that goes into seeing a project like this through.
A representative from eLuna tries to attend every event in this
project and we see the appreciation both of the soldiers and of
the restaurants.
