Belinda is exactly where it should be: in the middle of the Wolfson Complex (free parking), amidst the hubbub of the residents and in the Canyonit. Belinda is a cute café that begs you to come in a try their delicious foods.
Belinda is the place for an intimate lunch for two, or a quick bite while on the way to Mister Zol next door. The casual intimate restaurant provides a warm atmosphere for friends gathering and the sensation that owner Linda wants you to feel — right at home.
The food at Belinda is not only scrumptious but it is also healthy. There are no additives and salt is limited in all of the dishes. Belinda accommodates the special diets of elderly customers as well. Belinda’s clientele is overwhelmingly English speaking, and the staff also speaks English very well.
The potpourri of menu items really gets the taste buds going. We tried all of Belinda’s soups, but it was the Lentil that really struck us. You won’t find this anywhere else. In addition to the soups, a heavenly breakfast is served all day.
There are four main menu items worth noting that any visitors to Belinda absolutely must try:
The first is the Dragon Bowl, where Asian-infusion meets French café. This brown rice and vegetables dish leaves every customer wanting more. The mixture of tofu, onions, carrots, peppers and bean sprouts, tossed in a soy and ginger sauce is not only tasty, but also nutritious. And if that is not enough protein, this is served with fresh techina sauce!
The second is the Kegeree, something we had never tasted before. This flavors of the Salmon Kegeree are subtle and special. The mildly curried rice, mixed with fresh and smoked salmon, parsley, scallions and hard-boiled egg, is a delectable concoction, reminiscent of Jewish Home meets Scottish.
The third is the Kasha Burgers and Salmon cakes. The names speak for themselves—fresh, homemade alternatives to red meat for the vegetarians among us. The Salmon cakes were mixed with potato, creating a very unique taste. And the Kasha burgers had a special ingredient of pumpkin seeds, making this dish quite rich and at the same time leaving you wanting more and more.
The fourth and final entrée that you absolutely must try is the sweet-potato and mozzarella quiche. My dining companions had never tasted anything like this, and we would all argue it is one of the most delicious things that Belinda offers.
And speaking of delicious – if you have room for dessert, we highly recommend the Lemon Meringue…its light and airiness gives you the sweetness you desire, even if you only have a drop of room left after this meal fit for royalty.
