Three dynamic, young and hard working owners make each customer feel welcome from the time you begin the Joy eating experience.

The restaurant is small and intimate on the inside and also offers limited seating outside on the sidewalk. For lunch you can enjoy sandwiches and salads all very reasonably priced . Their entrecote steak sandwich is heavenly .

In the evenings you can make a dinner reservation before 8:00 but after that it is first come first serve and there is usually a line. Shlomi and Alon, two of the three owners, are usually on hand to greet you and make you feel appreciated and there is usually room at the bar while you are waiting for a table. In the evening once you are seated, the romantic atmosphere and friendly service will set the stage for a memorable eating experience. Their entrees are all excellent and the prices cannot be matched. Each dish served is an artistic creation by the chef and co-owner.

If you are looking for a little night life here in Jerusalem, try Joy Grill after 10 Pm - the atmosphere is young and trendy - video music can be seen and heard on the TV overhead. The bar offers an extensive list of alcoholic beverages and the beers are imported. My sons and their friends should write the bar review! I'm sure they would rate it 5 stars.

Overall the menu at Joy Grill & Beer offers a wide variety of grilled delicacies, salads, sandwiches, entrees and desserts. If you want to eat the best chicken wings in Jerusalem, try their BBQ Rimonim (pomegranate) and/or spicy chili and coriander. The restaurant features daily specials; like their mouth watering - melts -in your mouth - lamb rib chops and steaks cooked to perfection. For those patrons possessing a taste for the exotic, Joy Grill & Beer also features dishes with goose liver and chorizo sausage. Favorites among many patrons are their Tempura Onion rings with a special Teriyaki sauce and sweet potato fries. These appetizers are flavor enhanced when accompanied by a tall draft beer from a fabulous selection of brands.

For your "manna achrona" (dessert) Joy Grill offers sorbets and cakes but their signature dessert is a chocolate souffle that is worth giving up your low- carb diet for one night! It's so delicious that it is beyond description - Chocolate lovers this is for you!!

The atmosphere at Joy Grill is friendly and intimate. The food is delicious and last but certainly not least, the prices are the best in Jerusalem!

By the way, if you can't get a seat or just want to eat in your pajamas - Joy Grill offers take away - and the food is always ready fast - The name of this restaurant speaks for itself - Y'asher Koach to the owners and staff for creating a great new eatery in Jerusalem !

Submitted by: Fredi E. Date: January 09 , Description: Recently returned to JOY after not being here for awhile. Shlomi, Allon, and Aviram are busy all the time reinventing the place. The look is new, sophisticated but laid back and chef Israel is constantly fine tuning the menu. The night we were there, despite the fact, that it was a Sunday, was packed. I guess the word is out [about Joy Grill] on the street. Everything we ate was new and innovative. Everything , including the presentation, had a bit of a twist to it. For example, the lamb filled cigars came in a champagne glass! Will leave the other surprises to you. Some of the new items on the dinner menu are fish kebabs in a lime sauce, lamb kebabs grilled in a tomato couli and chicken livers sautéed in a sweet red wine and onion sauce.
The German Colony is the closest thing we have to the Village and JOY is one of the best. Prices are very reasonable for this quality of food and a reason to hang out here.

Submitted by: Josh & Deborah K. Date: 29 March 2006, Description: I was at Joy this past week and was shocked with how fantastic the food was. When Joy first opened up a few years ago, I was obsessed with the place. I was an avid eater at the restaurant and would probably go about 2 times each month. All of a sudden, the quality of the food, as well as the taste, changed for the worse. I took a good 18 month break from Joy and did not return until this past week. A friend of mine told me that he was at Joy and was very impressed. I was curious to see if they had in fact fixed up the place, and did they ever.

First of all, since the addition of the second room, the noise level seems to have decreased. We were able to carry on a conversation at a reasonable octave and didn't have to shout. Second of all, the service was outstanding. We were waited on by a charming waitress, named Amit (ask for her) who was helpful and pleasant. Then came the food which was fantastic. The Roast Beef appetizer was great. The onion rings were back to their old good selves. The burger was great. The steak was good and the Chicken Breast in Sczechwan sauce was exquisite. Of course there is always room for desert and the hot chocolate cake was oozing with a hot chocolate fudgy center served with Vanilla Ice Cream. We had a Nougat dessert as well and that was also great. I'm very happy to see that Joy is not only back to the way they once were, but far superior to that.

Submitted by: rissero, Date: 15 May 2005, Description: We love eating at Joy anytime of day. The atmosphere is truly joyful and the food always perfect. The owners and staff are a happy lot. Try the beer which is refreshingly cold. Enjoy!

Submitted by: davidmm, Date: May 2004, Description: I agree fully with Judy's experience in this restaurant. The food was excellent, and the service top notch. One steak was incorrectly prepared, and without batting an eyelid it was taken back, a new one prepared, and we received desserts on the house because of the delay (and without us raising a word of complaint). We will certainly return, the owners have a formula for success.
