Polly restaurant is located on the grounds of the Historic landmark Little House in Baka in the Jerusalem heritage house. The "house" is on Yehuda St. between Derech Bet Lechem and Derech Hebron. Polly restaurant is a lovely place to dine, with beautifully arched windows and a spacious landscaped garden with inviting shaded areas under beautiful aged pine trees. The Italian dairy menu is full of classic dishes and others with a local fusion twist.

When you go to a restaurant for the first time, or a restaurant that has changed its menu, it is wise to consult with the waiter before ordering. You may not choose the items that they suggest, but you will get some ideas. The foods that we ordered on this visit to Polly Restaurant were the chefs recommendations.

We started with the Focaccia bread served with Labne, pesto & sundried tomato spread. Polly takes full advantage of the dairy options, and rather than serving three vegetable spreads, the dairy labne was served with the focaccia. Labne is strained yogurt that is very popular in Middle Eastern cooking, and tastes faintly of sour cream. If you are not familiar with it you should certainly try it. The focaccia went perfectly with the gourmet soups of the day. I had the creamy leak and my partner hearty sweet potato. The soups were especially appreciated on a cold Fall evening. Soups hit the spot as the season changes from the hot summer to the crisp early winter Jerusalem evening.

Pasta dishes are a specialty at Polly. You can choose between Spaghetti, Fettuccini, Gnocchi, and three kinds of Ravioli. These pair up with one of 9 choices of homemade sauces. My dining partner had Ravioli with Salsa Rosa, the portion was generous, delicious and plated nicely.

Red Tuna Steak is one of the popular culinary trends today. Polly offers its own version of red tuna steak, perfectly seared and served with homemade teriyaki sauce. The fish comes with a side dish of very tasty mashed potatoes.

You will love Polly's luscious dairy desserts, which are both creative and artistic. We chose the Tartuffe. This is a dish of rich Belgian Chocolate truffles coated in French cocoa with a scoop of Ice cream, a touch of espresso, and homemade cherry tomato Jam.

Menus are in English, The waiter are bilingual, polite and understand the menu well.

Seating options:

"The Water Pit" indoor seating on sofas in vaulted stone rooms

"The Deck" glass-enclosed sliding windows, Full Bar, Beer on tap, Very tranquil atmosphere.
