Punchline is a good-time restaurant that offers dinner and a show. Not just a restaurant, Puchline is an experience with musical entertainment, dancing, and plenty of tasty food. The talented servers at Punchline not only deliver the dishes from the kitchen to your table, they also sing and dance.
Don't be surprised if while you are enjoying your food, the staff breaks into a show-stopping chorus, disco, or other dance.

You know the cliche of the aspiring entertainer who works as a waiter in New York till he gets his big break? Punchline is the Tel Aviv version of that story, but the entertainers are far from amateurs. The servers are former members of the army singing groups and some have been trained at the Beit Zvi School for the Performing Arts. You'll hear opera arias along with show tunes, professional DJs and more.

Two things before you go to Punchline:
1. You must have a reservation. Many nights the restaurant hosts groups and seating is tight.
2. You must know how to find this place.

Punchline Restaurant is the best kept secret in Tel Aviv, The restaurant is hidden in the lower level (-1 in the elevator) of the Gilgal Hotel, one of the boutique hotels on Nes Ziona Street in southern Tel Aviv, a small street off another small street. The action starts at about 9pm and goes on till all hours. The talented staff members take the stage by turns once the diners have had a chance to eat and drink, and the mic is passed around the diners. Not only will you be well fed, you will be entertained by rising talent. If you are willing, you will have a chance to sing for your supper.

Chances are that you will be so enthused you will want to take part in the singing. Go right ahead. Sing along to popular Israeli songs and an international medely. Between courses diners are encouraged to get on the dance floor and let loose.

The Punchline Menu

While you enjoy the party, you will enjoy the food. The restaurant offers a basic 3-course fixed price menu for NIS 140 per person and an upgraded menu for NIS 180 per person.

The meal starts with a selection of salads. Whet your appetite with a humus platter, fresh salad, cole slaw, roasted eggplant and a pasta salad. The salads are made in-house, with berries, cloves and herbs to give them a special flavor. Orange juice and cold water are on the table when you come, and there is a menu of cocktails and alcohol. Portions are generous and platters will be refilled upon request.

There is a choice of main dishes including meat, fish and a vegetarian option. We enjoyed the duet of one very tasty kabob and a chicken breast in brown sauce accompanied by a roasted potato, cooked in the skin and flavored with the same sauce as the chicken. The vegetarian option was a vegetable quiche. A generous platter of rice with nuts, raisins and herbs was served with the dishes.

Desserts are a selection of sweet mousse, chocolate, white, and coffee..... Yum! Coffee and tea were offered, but we declined due to the late hour.

Finished eating? Then on with the show! The talented waiter actors, singers, and dancers, will have you dancing in the aisles.

Punchline is a great evening for couples, friends, and groups. Celebrate a simcha at Punchline: birthday, sheva brachot, or a bar mitzva, Punchline specializes in tailor made shows.

Bring your appetite and your dancing shoes and join the party at Punchline where the good food and the beat go on. .
