Panko Japanese Sushi Bar is located at the corner of Ahuza and Brandeis Streets. Though a corner restaurant with glass on both sides, Panko is so understated you may only notice it by the large number of customers at tables inside and out front on Ahuza Street. What Panko lacks in fanfare it makes up for in tasty sushi, reasonable prices, and convenience. More on that below.
The modest size of this restaurant belies the bustling business at Panko. Not only can you enjoy the menu at the tables, you can also order from the menu by phone and pick up your order, or you can have it delivered. The activity around the counter and the bags of take away foods waiting for pick up suggest that there is more action in the restaurant than what you see.
Note: the eLuna 10% discount coupon can be used for dining inside the restaurant or for take away. It cannot be used for deliveries.
Panko Kosher Japanese Sushi BarPanko is a sushi man's sushi restaurant. Other than a few lunch specials there are no grilled meats hiding on the menu and no hamburgers for the kids. Panko is a restaurant for people who want to eat sushi.
And who doesn't want to eat sushi?
The take-it-with-you paper menu folded into three, offers rolls, Fotomaki, Nigri, Sashimi, Tamaki, Sushi sandwiches, Maki, Oramaki, and a host of combinations. In addition there are the standard Japanese Miso soup, tempura, and Japanese salads.
Lunch specials include a selection of Japanese vegetable, chicken and beef dishes.
Non-sushi eaters will find their way with Japanese style fish & chips, salmon fillet or chicken breast. The lunch specials come in under 50 shekels per dish.
The full menu with many selections, will have you thinking for a while before you order. We like the inside-outs. 10 of those will be a good start. Then we like another 10 - 15 pieces of different types. We are partial to sweet potato and avocado sushi so we always order some of that. We like a lot of wasabi. Panko will give you extra slips of wasabi if you ask. Vegetable tempura is a must at Japanese restaurants so we always order at least one portion of tempura veggies. Panko does some very nice vegetable tempura with onions. Highly recommended. All of this will run you about 100 shekels at Panko. Sound like a deal?
Here's what we think of Panko's convenient location, low prices and delicious food:
Convenience: You couldn't find a more convenient location. Shopping on Ahuza or just taking a walk in the center of the city, you can stop in for an easy, light, snack, or meet your friends for lunch or dinner, Nobody will have trouble finding it, at this major crossroads in Raanana.
Prices: You will be delighted with the prices at Panko. Two diners can have a comfortable and filling sushi dinner for under 100 shekels. 8 pieces of Maki or Oramaki are in the NIS 22 range. 20 piece combinations are in the NIS 70 range.
Delicious: The sushi is nicely prepared and very professional, the veggies are fresh and
the dishes are satisfying and delicious.
Panko will customize your sushi to your personal tastes. Just tell them what you like and the sushi will include those items.
Got an event or Simcha coming up? Panko can supply sushi trays for your party. And about that take-it-with-you menu - take it home with you. It will come in handy. |
