Pesto is everything you want in a neighborhood restaurant. This is a totally informal restaurant with family-style foods. Nothin' fancy, just good wholesome, reasonably priced dishes that you want to feed your family. Pesto is a family run business, where Gal and his wife Chanit preside. The restaurant is clean and orderly and foods are beautifully presented..

Not just pizza and pasta, Pesto is a full dairy restaurant with salads, sandwiches, toastim, breakfasts, fish dishes and lots of different drinks and desserts. All of these are available all day.

Pesto restaurant is where you go to meet a friend during the day or go out in the evening with your partner to get away from the TV. There are plenty of light foods to choose from and nobody is going to look at you if you don't order a full meal. But the full meal is there if you want it. Fish, pasta dishes, tortillas, and more. All the foods are made in house from authentic Italian recipes. The focaccia, for example, is made of two different types of flour. As it is in Italy.

eLuna stopped in to Pesto one week day mid afternoon. The tables were pretty full with a mix of diners. At one table were two people eating ice cream, hovered over their laptops. At another table there were 6 senior women, enjoying a late lunch together. A gentleman sat down at another table and asked for soup. He was a little early because the chef had just put it up. Not a problem. Coffee it is.

My companion and i shared a focaccia covered in cheese. It was a nice big portion that was more than enough for us both. We topped it off with a scoop of ice cream. Good luck choosing a flavor. Not the easiest decision of the day.

The Pesto Kitchen...
Pesto's mehadrin teuda requires that the kitchen staff be Jewish. The mashgiach kashrut is in attendance several times a day, and he works in the kitchen that he supervises. Though a neighborhood restaurant, many people come from other parts of Jerusalem because of the kashrut and the quality of the food.

When you are taking a walk with the kids stop at Pesto for an ice cream treat. Or maybe a fruit or an ice cream shake. .A tasty pizza is just the thing. with a cup of hot cocoa.Pesto has a separate drinks menu with a fine selection of hot drinks, cold drinks, fruit drinks, natural juice, milkshakes, ice cream and desserts.
