The book includes synagogues in Northern Israel, Central Israel, Jerusalem and Southern Israel. There are synagogues that are actively used and synagogues that sadly, are no longer active.
This is an outsized coffe table book that includes beautiful colored pictures of the synagogues and close ups of some of the details and synagogue artifacts. For each synagogue there is a descriptions and a history.
Often the information includes the date that the synagogue was built, the source of the funding, and in the case of a Hassidish synagogue, a short history of the dynasty. The only thing missing is a sound clips of the nusach.
This is a beautiful hard cover coffee table book, a talking point and a conversation starter. This book is a very positive addition to any library.
