The Fruit of the Vine

Vineyard: J.P. Chenet France
Wine: Merlot, 1998
Type: Dry Red

This vineyard produces three kosher wines, a Merlot, a Cabernet and a Chardonnay. They are all under the OU supervision. After having tasted the wines, I can say that it is very encouraging to have these wines on the Israeli market.

The overall taste and quality of this Merlot is very good. The wine is light and fruity tasting, even if it lacks body and complexity. The appeal of the wine is enhanced by a rich, bold color.

This easy to sip wine is an especially good value for the price. It is a perfect dinner wine, or can even be served for after dinner with cheese and crackers or with chocolates.

Guests will be especially impressed by the bottle. This wine is packaged in one of the most unique bottles I have ever seen. The bottle itself is slightly off center and its base is stouter than on other bottles. This wine appeals to our palates as well as to our eye.

One caution, however, the price of this bottle fluctuates greatly and can be 50% more expensive in some stores than in others.
