Atza Sushi Bar

March 2015
Atza is a chain of sushi bars throughout Israel. The Jerusalem Atza branch in is in the heart of the downtown restaurant scene. Open from noon to midnight week nights, Atza Sushi Bar is a place to enjoy Asian cuisine any time of the day or night. You can count on great food and a good time any time you come.

About the Atza Sushi Bar Menu

The Atza Sushi Bar menu is both huge and varied. There are starters, soups and salads, ‘specials’, sushi and sushi combos, sandwiches and stir fries. Portions are generous and the staff are happy to "doggy bag" orders that you just can't finish!

For starters we recommend you try the mushroom teriyaki, which is both tasty and delicately flavoured; or the crispy vegetable eggrolls. If you like soup, there’s a delicious and nutritious miso which comes with tofu, spring onions and seaweed, or a corn soup – hot and filling, as it should be.

We love Atza’s ‘specials’ menu. Take the California cheese roll, which includes salmon, avocado, cucumber, tofu based cream cheese, all covered in an envelope of chopped chives. Original and very tasty. If you want an excellent tempura, try the Tempura Special – inside you will find baked salmon, carrots and chives. Delicious with the teriyaki sauce.

In the salads section you will find a root salad and a Thai chicken – both crunchy and sliced in thin strips such as you only find in Japanese restaurants.

The more adventuresome will take the second recommendation: the Lime roll. This sounds like it has every ingredient except the kitchen sink. Recommended is recommended, so here's what you get: salmon tempura lemon cucumber, asparagus with miso yuzo sauce coated with avocado. sweet potato flakes, teriyaki, and spicy mayonnaise.

As you can imagine, there are plenty of sushi dishes to choose from. We recommend you share one of the combos, which include a great variety of shapes and fillings. The smallest combo has 16, and the largest 28 pieces. Definitely food for sharing.

What you probably would not expect in a sushi bar is sandwiches. However, these are no ordinary sandwiches, they are made of Japanese bread crumbs (panko). Choose from smoked salmon or a delicious vegetarian sandwich made with avocado, sweet potato, tamago (omelet). Very tasty.

Lastly, we recommend that you try one of Atza’s stir fries: there’s a great Pad Thai – rice noodles with a host of vegetables in an oriental sauce, topped with coriander and pieces of peanuts. Or if you like something a little more adventurous, try the coconut curry noodles, made with peanut butter and coconut milk. Very rich; we love it.

Atza Sushi Bar Jerusalem is a modern and cool restaurant which also offers a great atmosphere. The staff are friendly and professional, the foods are varied and prepared with a great deal of care. What’s more, the prices are very fair. Enjoy.
