We did not take Beit Shean for a kosher culinary center. Then we discovered Rozalia boutique café-patisserie and all of our assumptions changed. Rozalia was born of a chance meeting between two women - Chava and Chana - who have a passion for creating beautifully crafted, precision made desserts, breads, cakes, pastries, you name it. They called the café after the two grandmothers who inspired them – Rozi and Rosa, and out came Rozalia. Well, they have done their grandmas proud.

The café is just a stone’s throw from the Beit Shean National Park, in a preserved building clad in the local black stone typical of the area. Chava and Chana have spared no effort in planning and designing the interior of the café. The ceramics, chandeliers, wooden beams and long windows all make for a charming and warm atmosphere. When the weather permits, you can sit outside and look out at the Beit Shean antiquities.

About The Rozalia Menu

Rozalia - Bread and Cheese‘Let them eat cakes,’ said Marie Antoinette. But before that, you might want something more sustaining. If it’s breakfast you’re after, Rozalia offers a range – from home made granola with yogurt and seasonal food, to 3 types of shakshouka, to a full Israeli breakfast.

For lunch or dinner, there’s an assortment of Italian pasta dishes with some unusual touches. Try the delicately flavoured Papavore with roasted poppy seed and butter, or the roasted chestnut ravioli in a white wine and sour cream sauce. From Hungary comes the palacsinta – savoury crepes filled mushrooms, sour cream and wine, or filled with cream cheese, ricotta and walnuts. You’ll be hard put to choose!

If it’s a light meal you want, there are no less than 8 types of sandwiches all served with salad. There is also a wide choice of main course salads. We particularly like the healthy salad, made with black lentils, quinoa, vegetables and cranberries. Beautifully balanced and, like all salads, served with some of Rozalia’s amazing bread. In addition to the food you will be impressed with the friendly and professional staff.

While the meals at Rozalia are excellent, the desserts are outstanding and you must, simply must, enjoy the desserts. The personal sized desserts are exquisite in presentation and a celebration for the palate, an art form. Here are just a few: gorgeous petit fours, a chocolate ravioli in a vanilla sauce, tarte citron, cheese cake and a traditional – for many of us nostalgic - bread pudding.

From Our Readers:
Submitted by: Zev Gerstl. Date: December 22, 2015. Description: This is a quaint, neat and well kept restaurant at the entrance to the city. The choice of food was large and we had fish and pasta. The servings were large and tasty and the service was fine. I would definitely eat there again when up north. Parking available nearby.
