HaBayit BaGalil is an exclusive boutique resort in the heart of Birya forest, in the upper Galil. This gorgeous eye-popping property was built privately, for the pleasure of the owner?s close circle of friends. The resort recently changed hands and now welcomes all guests who enjoy a pampering and relaxing stay in one of the most unique properties in Israel. The resort has a limited number of guest rooms, a spa and spacious indoor and outdoor sitting areas. See the eLuna travel section for more details on this resort and for reservations.

HaBayit BaGalil has a beautifully appointed dining room, open to guests of the resort for breakfast and dinner. The resort also accepts a limited number of outside dinner guests by reservation only. A separate dining room is also available for groups of up to 25 guests. Groups must be prearranged with the hotel.

When you come to HaBayit BaGalil restaurant, be sure to allow yourself some extra time to take a look around and enjoy the amazing atmosphere. This is an opportunity to walk around the grounds and see the outdoor pool and hot tub. Enjoy the beautiful ambiance and plush seating in two lobbies. You can even indulge in a game of chess or shesh-besh set up on tables and ready to go. I bet you haven?t seen anything like this before.

Getting There:
HaBayit BaGalil is located in the Birya forest, between Hatzor Haglilit and Amuka. You can get to HaBayit BaGalil either from highway 90 through Hatzor Haglilit or from the west, through the Amuka forest. The resort recommends coming from highway 90, which is more direct.

Turn off highway 90 at Hatzor Haglilit. Driving north, this is the next major turn off after Rosh Pina. Turn into Hatzor Haglilit and continue west on the main road through the town. Continue straight through several traffic circles. At the end of the road you will see a sign pointing right to HaBayit BaGalil. Take the right, and follow the road to another sign to the resort on your left, pointing up a dirt road. You will be on this windy and somewhat hilly dirt road for about 5 minutes. The dirt road is a bit unnerving but there are clear signs pointing the way up to the resort. We recommend that you do this in daylight.

The resort is enclosed by a fence and an electric gate. You have to buzz to be allowed through the gate. They will only let you in if you are expected, so be sure to make reservations. There is plenty of parking.

Menu:
The resort restaurant is located on the entrance level, just past the bar. The inviting room has magnificent tile floors, tall windows, comfortable seating at cloth-covered tables. Colorful place settings top off the festive feel of the restaurant. You can dine either indoors and enjoy the gorgeous ambiance or on the outdoor patio just through the double doors of the restaurant. This is a win-win.

We enjoyed a delicious 3-course dinner at the restaurant at HaBayit BaGalil. When we were seated we were welcomed with a loaf of sliced warm bread and several dips. We nibbled on this while we perused the menu. Like most fine restaurants, there are a limited number of choices, but each one is a house specialty. My companion can never resist a good soup, and he was delighted with his choice. I was equally pleased with the roasted open eggplant with techina. This dish was topped by a tangy relish that gave it a special zing.

My companion chose the leg of lamb for his main course. This is a unique dish, not available in most restaurants in the center of the country, and he was thrilled. I went with the fish; two fillets served on a bed of potato puree and vegetables. The food presentation was very nice and the food was delicious. As one would expect in a restaurant of this caliber, bottled water is included with the meal.

The resort has a rich wine cellar and the restaurant offers a nice selection of wine by the glass or by the bottle. We were pleased that the prices by the bottle were not outrageous and we had a lovely bottle of Golan white wine with our meal for NIS 70.

?What would you like for dessert?? asked our charming waitress, who proceeded to list a series of mouthwatering delicacies. We settled on chocolate cake, which was so fresh we were sure that it had just come out of the oven, and pecan pie, rich with nuts and sweet carmel sauce. Each cake was served with a scoop of ?ice cream? and tea.

A 3-course dinner comes to NIS 190 per person. Wine is extra. The priceless ambiance is included.
