Nili Wine Bar and Restaurant is one of the most inviting restaurants on the midrachov - the central pedestrian mall of Zichron Yaakov. Many mehadrin restaurants rely on the most observant client base while Nili Wine attracts a variety of customers, with and without kippot, from diverse population groups.

The Hameyasdim pedestrian mall is a charming outdoor walkway with small shops and restaurants. Walking through this lovely area is a delightful way to spend a day or an evening. There are a number of kosher restaurants that you can enjoy along the way and Nili Restaurant is one of the best.

Nili has two terraces and a well air-conditioned room that welcomes up to 80 guests. The interior of the Nili Restaurant is quaint and charming. The decor is clean and aesthetic. The walls are lined with books and an excellent display of attractive wines. The focus of the collection is the kosher boutique wineries. A visit to Nili Wine house is a chance to become acquainted with a wide variety of new wineries.

You won't be tasting the wines on an empty stomach. Nili Wine House has a full menu of excellent lunch and dinner dishes.

eLuna revisited Nili Wine Restaurant:
A Nili breakfast is so filling, you won't eat again till the next day. We know this from experience.
eLuna revisited Nili Wine Restaurant on a sunny summer morning. Outdoor seating was available but the comfortable air-conditioned interior was so tempting we succumbed to the indoor space.

Breakfast is served from 8 till 12 noon. A separate full dairy menu is available only from 12:30pm. The menu presented to us midmorning offered 3 varieties of shakshuka, two breakfast combinations with eggs, salads, grains, breads, coffee and drinks of different types. That's what I call breakfast.

Start with a cup of their gourmet coffee. Then try the one of several varieties of shakshuka with fresh tomatoes, red peppers, onions, garlic, olive oil and two eggs served with a rustic bread and an individual salad. The Zichrona signature dish an open-faced brioche with melted feta and mozzarella cheese, violet onions, herbs, tomatoes, baked in the oven and topped with a sunny-side up egg.

Nili offers a vegan breakfast: with an egg-free omelet (see photo below). The omelet is based on chickpeas with herbs and vegetables, and is served with fresh cut vegetables and a bowl of mixed vegetable dips and pitot. The omelet is heavier on the carbs than a conventional egg-based omelet but it was tasty and filling. This breakfast comes with a masbacha (humus with chickpea dip, covered with tahina, with mild tomato salsa and green harif on the side) with pitot for dipping and scooping. (See the photo) I wish the masbacha could be ordered separately, it was so good.. Together with the dips, this is a breakfast for kings.

What comes after breakfast? At 12:30 Nili opens their full dairy menu of dishes for lunch and the rest of the day/night. Starters include eggplant carpaccio with techina, whitefish or salmon ceviche, and spicy red tuna tartar. There is a large selection of salads, pasta dishes, fish dishes, and club sandwiches. In every category, you will find some dishes with names that are sure to attract your attention, like the Iron Man salad or the ALT sandwich. The Specialties section of the menu includes Cannelloni, Chestnut Ravioli and other intriguing dishes.

For something heartier, consider the pizza or pasta. Again, not your average pizza or pasta. There are eight kinds of pizza, plus a gluten-free pizza. Try pizza with tomatoes, capers, anchovy, and olives or pizza with tomatoes and 4 special cheeses: mozzarella, goat, ricotta, and Bulgarian. Flip the menu over for a complete Sushi menu, from individual rolls to platters for groups.

No meal is complete without dessert. Look for the Sweet Delights section, on the bottom of the Sushi menu! Try the crème brûlée or chocolate soufflé.
