Every restaurant has its own personality, its own style, and its own signature. Restaurants that are part of a chain frequently have a special something that distinguishes them from the other restaurants in the chain. So too, the owners of Patrick's in Kiryat Ono have put their own stamp on their restaurant.

Patrick's in Kiryat Ono is a chill-out, family restaurant where the emphasis is on relaxation. No big screens, no sports events, no dancing. After a long day, let Patrick's in Kiryat Ono pamper you with soft music, and good food.

Let me say a word about Kiryat Ono for folks who have not been there in a while. This area of Kiryat Ono is dominated by the Ono College, a large impressive building not more than two blocks from the restaurant. With a good number of departments and a large student body, the College has turned this part of Kiyat Ono into a college town. Students, people in their early 20's and young couples are everywhere. With that comes the restaurants, leisure centers and plenty of blessed parking.

Patrick's Restaurant in Kiryat Ono is located at the circular corner where Naomi Shemer street meets Anat Gov Street. You'll recognize the restaurant by the greenery that wraps around the restaurant's outdoor courtyard. The courtyard is a magical garden where you can relax in lounge seating under under umbrellas or under the stars.

"It's all about the food and the chill" says owner Doreen. You may recognize Doreen and her business partner Meir from their many years at Patrick's in Jerusalem. They have brought all of their experience to Kiryat Ono and have developed a new concept. Come and chill, enjoy the food and bring the family. There is no dancing and no disco music. The atmosphere is relaxing for quiet conversation, which is just what you want after a long day.

The kitchen at Patrick's Kiryat Ono is a busy place. All the foods are made from scratch, from the freshest ingredients. The meat is ground fresh, on site. Fish is delivered fresh. In addition to the familiar Patrick's menu, Kiryat Ono offers some of their own creative dishes listed on a paper menu with such enticing descriptions you will want to order them all.

"We have a new menu item that you must try" the charming waiter suggested. This dish was so new it did not yet appear on the menu. My dining companion, known for his adventuresome culinary style, went right for the new dish: three mini-kebab patties resembling small burgers, each on half a oasted pita, topped with fresh tomato slices and herbs. He found the kabob meat more flavorful than a burger, thanks to the herbs and seasoning in the meat, the sauce under the patty and the herbs on top. This was a great dish that he recommends. The kebabs were served with a bowl of mixed potato and sweet potato fries that were generous enough to share. Sweet potato fries are often soggy but these were unusually crispy and tasty. In addition, the fries were actually parve. cooked separately from the meat.

As in most college towns, this area caters to many vegetarians. The menu has a good selection of non-meat dishes all clearly marked. My Redefined non-meat burger was oven-baked, and was served in a warm and crispy roll along with yet more chips. The Redefined burger is the restaurant's choice for meat substitute, by request from the customers. My companion, the carnivore, said it didn't taste anything like real beef. You can't fool mother nature.

The impressive interior dining room is dominated by a shimmery bar the full length of the back wall. This catches your eye as you enter the restaurant and beckons you to try a cocktail. At the waiters suggestion we chose the passion fruit cocktail. This was a fruity cocktail served with a cinnamon stick, popular among the college crowd. It seems that college days are long behind us.

The restaurant opens at 6pm and starts to fill up as the doors open. Reservations are in order.
