Tuta Pasta is the place to
stop for light dairy meals. The restaurant offers a limit ed selectionof appetizers, casseroles, blintzes, pastas, lasagna and pizza. The
selections are printed on a one-page flyer that serves as the menu.
Two business lunches are
available from noon till 4:00pm, at NIS 24.90 and NIS 30. A complete
business lunch begins with soup, a plate of salad, and a main course,
which is one of the pasta dishes. I chose the lasagna and my companion,
the salmon ravioli. Both of these dishes were very tasty and quite satisfying.
The specialty of this restaurant
is their use of tofu-based meat substitute in their dairy meals. They
make a very nice "meat" lasagna, with cheese and tofu-meat, that is
quite tasty. You can also have parve "meat" ravioli with a tofu-based
filling.
This restaurant has cleverly
carved out a niche in the take-away market. Just about every item on
the menu can be purchased for take-away. Items are cooked and packaged
in disposable containers. They are then frozen, and stored in several
freezer and refrigerator compartments on display in the restaurant.
A plastic container of frozen
ravioli (sold by weight) and a sauce selected from the refrigerator
compartment can make for a nice dinner that you can prepare at home
in under 10 minutes. Just place the slightly thawed ravioli in a pot
of boiling water for several minutes, till the ravioli rise to the surface.
Drain the ravioli and serve. Microwave the sauce for a few seconds and
serve on the side or poured over the ravioli.
A very popular item is the
Tuta Pasta pizza, ranging from NIS 18 to NIS 52 (XL). You can get two
large size pizzas and two bottles of Pepsi for NIS 59.
Think of Tuta Pasta when
friends call that they are in the neighborhood and want to drop by at
dinnertime, or even make a party and pick up all the fixin's at Tuta
Pasta. They'll even deliver!
