Bashert Restaurant, nestled in the alleys of the Old City,
is considered by many to be the best restaurant in Tzfat. Whereas we make it a point to visit each restaurant that we promote on eLuna, full disclosure, we have not yet personally visited this restaurant. Yet as we researched the restaurant it sounded so enticing we thought to drop everything and drive right up. We bring you Bashert Restaurant based on our research, your recommendations and online reviews.

Beit Mendis is a large culinary complex that answers your every food need. Mendi's offers a Shabbat take away market, catering services. an event hall, Mendis Express (quick-service food) and Bashert upscale meat chef restaurant for premium fine-dining.
Bashert is the flagship restaurant within the larger Beit Mendis.The restaurant is known for its warm, attentive service and the atmosphere that combines the ancient city with an attractive, modern interior.
The foods, service, and ambiance. have given this restaurant a fine reputation and it is recommended for quality meat dining in Tzfat's Old City. Prices are in the mid-to-upper range with main courses at roughly ₪150 per person.
The chef’s signature style is an upscale contemporary interpretation of traditional Eastern European Jewish dishes. Liver blintzes, for example, are filled with liver and lamb schmaltz and fresh mushrooms seared in white wine. The Yapchik Croquettes dish includes three crispy overnight potato kugel croquettes filled with juicy pulled beef, coated in panko and deep-fried. Shredded Meat Gnocchi is handmade gnocchi with shredded meat, red wine, fresh mushrooms and chestnuts.
The most popular dishes at Bashert are the smoked meats. The highlights are the brisket and the slow-smoked Asado Ribs. This is a juicy asado cut, slow-smoked with French oak barrel chips in a South American style sauce. The asado and Bashert’s 8-hour smoked brisket, are must-tries. You'll enjoy these meats with your choice from a menu of distinguished wine and alcohol.
The Legendary Meat Safe
The Mendi's complex preserves both ancient and modern history. Before it was Mendi's, the complex housed the former Bank Leumi. For decades millions of shekels were stored in the legendary bank safe. In the building renovation Mendi's chose to preserve the safe and convert it into a temperature controlled freezer room for storing the meats and raw materials. The safe remains In its original location in the basement of the renovated building. On the other side of the safe is a cooling rooms for aging the fresh meats before they are smoked. Slow-smoking for 18 hours turns the meat cuts into a mouth-watering culinary treat.
Bashert Restaurant is a winning shidduch between an ancient Jewish kitchen and a fine meat smokehouse. It is a perfect match between traditional dishes and a modern, refreshing interpretation. It is a beautiful joining of the nostalgic alleys of Tzfat and an innovative luxury restaurant.
