Entrecote is at the top: the top of the hill, the top of the food chain and the top kashrut. There are only two or three other restaurants in Israel that provide this level of high-end luxurious dining and this kashrut. Entrecote is not an every man's restaurant. This restaurant speaks to a specific niche market for diners who value the elegance, the atmosphere, the fine food, the stringent Eida Haredit Hashgacha, and are willing to pay for it. That said, Entrecote is an enjoyable dining experience for anyone who appreciates fine food and fine dining.
Restaurants in this niche market do not come cheap. The prices vary, but all the dishes are at the high end of the price range in most fine restaurants. Entrecote does offer dishes in a variety of prices, but if you are indulging in this quality dinner, I would advise you to go for the highest. You will remember that meal long after you have forgotten the cost.

Entrecote was founded and is owned by Shimon Asraf. The restaurant was originally located down the hill, and then moved up to its current more elegant location further afield from the other restaurants in Har Hotzvim. This is no mom-and-pop shop, but is a big business. The Entrecote empire includes the large and elegantly designed Entrecote restaurant with a series of rooms for private dining and smachot. Specialists in meat, the Entrecote people also own of the "Well Done" butchery with branches throughout the country, offering top quality meat and the top kashrut. They supply the meat to several other high end kosher restaurants. Assaraf wine is the Entrecote private label, named for the owner. and is available only at the restaurant.
Full disclosure, we were guests of the restaurant. My companion and I do not limit our kashrut observance to the Eida Haredit hashgacha. Thus we can compare the dining experience at Entrecote to restaurants that have other hashgachot. Entrecote gets high marks by all standards. Our host Dov, and our charming waiter Yoni could not have been friendlier and more personable, as were other members of the staff. The tables were comfortable and well-spaced, the variety on the menu was good, the dishes were nicely presented, enticing and tasty.

Make no mistake, Entrecote is for connoisseurs of meat and wine. We enjoyed all the different vegetable and the fish dishes at Entrecote, but the meat dishes paired with wine, steal the show. You'll get the idea from the full wall of wine at the far end of the room
Our meal began with a set of seven salads set out in small aesthetic bowls and served with the house-baked bread. Each of the salads had a unique twist. The salads are included in the price of your main course and will be refilled if you ask. Warning: There is going to be a lot of food at this meal, so take it slow.
Portions at Entrecote are generous. The dishes are very tasty so you will not want to leave anything on your plate. The long bar at the far end of the room beckons you to order drinks. We chose a frothy strawberry cocktail, refreshing but more like a smoothy than a cocktail.
The Entrecote kitchen can be proud of the many dishes on its Appetizer menu. Each of the dishes is generous and unique in itself.
The signature Assado Croquettes is an attractively presented platter of three crispy coated balls filled with slow-cooked meat on a platter decorated with techina. The three balls give you just a taste of one of the unique dishes and do not overwhelm the meal. The Ceasar salad is a meal in itself. It was beautifully presented with vegetables, nuts and grains, topped with slices of grilled chicken breast. When we were offered the house humus, we did not expect a humus platter that could be a main course. The humus, at Entrecote, is a full bowl of humus topped with meat and a salad on the side. The restaurant is quite cooperative about tailoring the dishes to your taste. The kitchen was quite willing to serve the humus with the meat on the side.

The main courses are the highlight of the Entrecote menu. The high-end steaks under the menu heading "well done Cuts in Josper Oven" and the slow cooked dishes from the "Slow N Tender" menu are the restaurant signature main courses. Yoni, our server, recommended the slow cooked tongue in a chardonnay sauce, with fresh mushrooms, one of the super high-end choices. We recognized this as a specialty dish that you won't see on most menus. The flavors were amazing and the portion was generous. My companion finished every last forkful because who would leave any of this on the plate. I chose the salmon main course. Two salmon steaks on the platter with Pesto and a tasty sweet and sour sauce. The plate was nicely decorated with sculpted vegetables. Our main courses were served with separate bowls of rice, potatoes and vegetables.
Mixed meat Platters (ranging from NIS 450 - NIS 750) can be shared, giving everyone at the table an opportunity to taste the mix of meats: Asado, Lamb Spareribs, Brisket, Chicken Livers, Lamb Entrecote, Butcher’s Burger, Veal Sweetbread skewers, Rib steak, Lamb chops. There are also children-appropriate menu items.
Believe it or not, after all that, there is also dessert. The Creme Brulee and the Belgian Waffle are made in house, but other desserts are brought in from an exclusive bakery that works only with a small number of select restaurants including Entrecote. We were going to pass on dessert, and try to waddle back up the hill. No such thing. Out came two desserts: a lucious lemon meringue pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, and a plate of three scoops of fruit sorbet.
Though we were comp'd by the restaurant, the tip alone came to the price of a main course in a standard kosher meat restaurant. Waiters have to live too.
The restaurant is at the corner of Kiryat Hamada, at the traffic circle, as it swings around Har Hotzvim. Note that Har Hotzvim is a tech park and in the late afternoon, as the offices empty, traffic can be challenging. There is street parking after working hours.
