Revisited June 2023
Hungarian Blintzes is a warm and friendly family run restaurant. Mom Natalie tells me that the family is actually from Gruzia. The entire Jewish community in their city came on Aliya together in the early 1950's. They settled in Jerusalem where they opened theif first restaurant. The first Intifada drove them out of Jerusalem and for the past 23 years they have been on Yirmiyahu Street in Tel Aviv. All these years Hungarian Blintzes has been serving up the best tasting blintzes around.

Hungarian Blintzes restaurant is a page from times gone by. Hungarian Blintzes will help you recall that once, not all foods were fast-foods and life moved at a different pace.

eLuna Revisits Hungarian Blintzes

We have always enjoyed our many visits to Hungarian Blintzes Restaurant. We revisited the restaurant with friends staying in Jerusalem, who were tired of the pizza and pasta model dairy restaurant. Hungarian Blintzes was the first restaurant to come to mind. No pizza or pasta at this restaurant, just delicious blintzes.

The main focus of the restaurant menu is - you guessed it - blintzes. The menu offers a choice of different types of blintzes. Salty blintzes, containing a variety of cheeses, veggie blintzes, sweet blintzes, hot blintzes and cold blintzes. The blintzes are served in individual oval ceramic serving dishes.

Make a main course of the spinach blintzes, or perhaps the Hungarian goulash blintzes served with paprika, of course. Hungarian cuisine does favor paprika. Potato blintzes flavored with Paprika - how Hungarian is that.

There are also salads on the menu, but truthfully the blintzes are so enticing i have never tried the salads. Soup is a good starter for a blintzes meal, The onion soup topped with cheese and croutons caught our eye. The tomato and the mushroom and cream soups also sound good. Soups are served with salty crackers.

The menu has not changed much in all these years but manager and son Avi has added a few creative ideas. Fruit juice based on lemon and clementinot, served in a pitcher over ice, is a great cooler on a summer afternoon. We feasted on our orders which included two blintzes per baking dish. You can mix and match blinntzes, getting two different flavors in one order.

Our friends were charmed by the restaurnat's old world decor. They loved the embroidered tablecloths, the signature of this restaurant, and the welcoming service. This restaurant is filled with comfortably spaced small tables covered in colorful ethnic tablecloths. Take your choice of either indoor seating or seating in the glass-enclosed terrace facing Yirmiyahu street.

People often come to this restaurant to celebrate special events, such as birthdays, etc. The restaurant can accommodate groups of up to 80 people.

Hungarian Blintzes offers some of hte best desserts anywhere. The sweet blintzes dessert are served either hot or cold. Sweet blintzes are topped with a variety of sweet sauces like chocolate cream, nut cream, and cheese. Enjoy these blintzes topped with fruit, vanilla cream or ice cream.

Top off your meal with the homemade liquors served to you complements of the restaurant. Enjoy home-made eggnog, chocolate and lemon liquor, served at your table after your meal.
