Miss & Mr Nightlife Experience
                July 2024

Miss & Mr is a chef restaurant with musical entertainment, and is, as they say, a nightlife experience. The experience includes delicious food and alcoholic drinks in a tasteful atmosphere. In alignment with its location in the Music Square, the restaurant has a DJ every night. The music varies nightly, from background music early in the week that gets more intense toward the end of the week.

The restaurant is several steps below the ground, in a kind of clubby, speak easy atmosphere. Even in the dim room you will be impressed by the sparkling bar and the beautiful interior design. The style is minimalist with contrasting black dishes, and gold flatware on wood tables. The color scheme is punctuated by red upholstered chairs. The somewhat macabre atmosphere is repeated with thick candles with drippings along the sides.

Whether you come to Miss & Mr for the music, the atmosphere or the drinks, you will fall in love with the food. Chef Daniel Marciano presides over the kitchen. The dishes are creative, delicious, and beautifully presented. The menu offers a long list of starters, but just four main dishes. This suggests that your meal can consist of more than one starter without a main course. That might cut down on the cost, but then you would miss out on the excellent main courses.

We started our dinner with an appetizer for each of us. My companion chose the Red Tuna Tartlet starter (shown below). The starter was tasty and just spicy enough to keep him interested. He was leery initially about the raw fish, but he stopped worrying at the first bite. The thin and crispy filo dough base of the two tartlets provided just enough carb to balance out the combination of tiny bits of fish, vegetables and two kinds of crème.
I was intrigued by the Chestnut Pasta mix starter, described in the menu with truffle butter asparagus and parmesan
Huh? Butter and parmesan in a meat restaurant? Rest easy, the parmesan is made of nuts. The base of this creative dish was the pasta which is made in house. Added to this was an amazing sauce of chestnuts, crunchy bits of asparagus, a mix of mushrooms, and a creamy sauce with the distinct flavor of truffles. I especially loved the mix of textures, the al dente pasta and the crunchy asparagus. For this dish alone, it is worth visiting this restaurant. Though a bit pricey at NIS 84 for a starter, the dish was so generous it could easily be a main course. I shared it with my companion and together we did not finish it.
A chef restaurant with musical entertainment.
NIS 250 per person minimum Thursday night
                and Motzei Shabbat.
Alcoholic drinks are an important part of the nightlife experience. Miss & Mr has two bars, both serving excellent cocktails. Be sure to have a cocktail with your meal. If this is not part of your comfort zone, it is time you make it such.
While the list of appetizers is a full page, there are only four main courses listed. I chose the only fish dish and my companion chose the Lamb Chops. This is the most expensive item on the menu at NIS 216 but it is only a bit more costly than the other two meat dishes.

The lamb chops were served on a platter with a side dish described as paprika risotto. This was a crunchy wheat grain that was well flavored and was a good companion to the meat. The lamb was cooked perfectly. The glass of very ordinary red wine that he ordered was really not necessary and afterward said that a diet coke would have been enough.
The Sea Bass main course was cleverly presented on skewers balanced on top of a bowl of creme sauce. The dish was visually attractive, and the crispy fillet was delicious. The crème had a strong flavor of fennel with a bit of chili oil. The fish was so perfectly prepared and so delicious it did not need the sauce.
We could not pass up the mille feuille dessert. This is a luscious dessert of layers of cream, cookies and chocolate. The restaurant insisted that we also try the Creme Brule, and we did not argue. These desserts are made in house, with our complements to the chef.

The excellent dining experience at Miss & Mr comes at a price. Our dinner for two came in at over 600 shekels. On Thursday night and Motzei Shabbat the restaurant has a 250 shekel minimum per person. It will not be hard to get to that sum.
The restaurant has a private room on a lower floor that can seat 14 guests. It is appropriate for business meetings, small parties, and get togethers.
The Music Square has convenient parking on Hillel Street.
