There is no shortage of fine mehadrin meat restaurants in Jerusalem. Some meat menus nod to the non-meat eaters with one or two fish dishes. A true fish restaurant with a mehadrin hashgacha is another thing entirely. Pescados fills that slot. Pescados is a quality fish and dairy restaurant where the fish is at the forefront, but not all. Diners can also opt for pasta dishes or pizza.

Pescados is located in Romema, not far from Center 1. The restaurant is on the ground floor of the Aka building housing the Jerusalem Rabbanut. Not far from Yirmiyahu Blvd, it is easy to find and conveniently located. Pescados gives a clean and orderly impression. There is a spacious main seating area, a bar at the entrance, and a glass-enclosed kitchen where you can watch the chefs, including a Braslav Hassid, who will prepare your meals. The service is respectful and gentlemanly.

Pescados os a family restaurant. There is plenty of room for everyone in the spacious dining area. A young couple and their baby in a stroller had their lunch when we visited the restaurant. Couples looking for privacy can take a seat along the wall, where it is quieter, There is also a private room for up to 30 diners. What a place for a business meeting or for a small simcha. Sheva brachot or L'chayim.

About The Pescados Menu

We usually visit new eLuna restaurants for dinner, but our timing was off and we could only visit Pescados for lunch. It appears that there are many more interesting dishes on the dinner menu which we will try on another visit.

If you opt for a fish dinner, your meal will start with a selection of 7 lovely salads. We enjoyed the American style coleslaw, Asian style pickled vegetables, tabouli salad and eggplant salads. Our attentive waiter wanted to refresh the salads as we finished them, but we had to keep a lid on this, or we wouldn't be able to eat the rest of the meal. These salads are available as a separate menu item which you may consider if you are not having a fish dinner.

I cannot recall a fish restaurant with quite the selection offered at Pescados There are about 10 types of fish on the menu including trout, sea bream, red tuna, salmon fillet, just to name a few. The lunch menu also includes fish & chips and fish patties. In addition there are the dairy options.

After thoroughly enjoying the starter salads for variety we chose one salmon dinner and a pasta dish. The salmon dish was a perfectly prepared fillet served on a decorated platter. The piece was generous and filling,

For our pasta dish we chose the ravioli in 4 cheese sauce. The portion was so generous we were able to share both the fish and the ravioli. All of this was quite filling, and when the restaurant suggested one of their excellent desserts, we had to pass. Another time, and I am sure there will be one.

Pescados offers several dairy fish dishes. These are fish dishes with dairy sauces, and pizza with both cheese and anchovies. These dishes are marked with an asterisk for those who do not eat fish and dairy together.
