TAU 77 Sushi & Wok
May 2026
Rothschild Boulevard has long been the capital of Tel Aviv’s café culture, and the best place for cocktails, late-night and week-end dining. Because of the Shabbat night-life most of the restaurants on Rothchild Blvd did not have a teudat kashrut. Recently there has been a change and Rothchild has become more welcoming to kosher diners. One of the newest arrivals on the scene is TAU 77, a lively Asian kitchen and sushi bar bringing wok-fired flavor to the boulevard.
Any kosher restaurant in this location cannot fall short of its non-kosher competition. And so, kosher TAU 77 stands the test. The restaurant has the look and feel of a modern sushi lounge worthy of the location. There is dim lighting, a sleek bar, and a kitchen that moves quickly from sushi station to wok burners.
In keeping with the Rothchild trend, TAU 77 is casual but stylish. This is a place where diners stop in for a relaxed dinner or linger over cocktails.
The menu is a mixture of Japanese sushi favorites and pan-Asian street-food classics. There are meat and fish dishes along with a good selection of vegetarian dishes.
Sushi rolls are front and center, including crowd-pleasers like the Dragon Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll, both bright with fresh fish and sweet and sour sauces. The signature Dragon Roll is a large specialty sushi roll that includes salmon, avocado, tempura crunch, and spicy sauce. The Tuna Roll, one of the best-selling sushi items in Asian restaurants, is a classic roll with tuna, spicy mayo, cucumber and sesame. My choice would be the crispy tempura salmon inside sushi rice with sweet soy and spicy sauce, tweaked for the Israeli pallet.

If you want to see fresh ingredients look no further than the Salmon Nigiri, fresh salmon slices on sushi rice. The salmon is a lovely pink, fresh, and the nigri is simple and well prepared. This is the mark of a good sushi restaurant.
Bao Buns and Wok dishes are another TAU 77 specialty.
Steamed Bao buns are soft, fluffy, and satisfying, There are vegetable buns, crispy chicken buns and and slow-cooked beef buns with an Asian glaze.
Wok dishes are filling and generous so if a wok dish is your choice, come hungry.
One of the most popular wok dishes is the basic Pad Thai with rice noodles, vegetables, egg and sauce. More adventuresome diners may choose the Beef and broccoli Pad Thai, a combination of beef strips and broccoli in soy-garlic sauce. The Pad Thai dishes make the table feel like an Asian feast rather than just a sushi stop.
TAU 77 fits perfectly into the rhythm of Rothschild: easygoing, social, and full of flavor. The restaurant may not aim for haute cuisine, but it delivers something just as welcome a lively kosher Asian spot where sushi, noodles, and good company share the spotlight.
