TAU 77 Sushi & Wok

May 2026
TAU77 Restaurant is a find. Opened in early 2026, TAU77 is already making its reputation. Rothschild Boulevard has long been the capital of Tel Aviv’s café culture, and the best place for cocktails, late-night and week-end dining. Because of the Shabbat night-life most of the restaurants on Rothchild Blvd did not have a teudat kashrut.

TAU77 leads the pack in kosher restaurants in this area. TAU 77 is a lively Asian kitchen and sushi bar bringing wok-fired flavor to the boulevard. The calling card of the restaurant is authentic Chinese cuisine, prepared from fresh materials by actual Chinese chefs. You have not tasted anything like this in any other Asian restaurant.

Why the name TAU77?
TAU means "wave" in Chinese.
77 is for owner Noa's grandmother, Batsheva.

We were greeted at the restaurant by the charming and lovely owner Noa, with experience in restaurants in different parts of Israel. She has teamed up with a Chinese master chef of 28 years to create this original and high quality restaurant. The Chinese chef, Noa assured us, easily adapted the Chinese recipes for kashrut.

The menu is a mixture of Japanese sushi favorites and pan-Asian street-food classics. There are meat and fish dishes along with a good selection of vegetarian dishes. The menu lists starters, noodle dishes, rice dishes, bans, and several pages of sushi.

Noa suggested that we try three of the restaurant's signature dishes. We started with the Vietnamese Salad with tofu (also available with chicken). The Vietnamese salad was rich in vegetables and strips of tofu. There was a lovely sauce that gave the salad zing. This is a very attractive dish, generous enough to share.

A big beautiful bowl of Udon Salmon, from the noodles menu, followed. Udon noodles are thick, chewy wheat-based noodles that are a staple in Chinese cooking. The big bowl of noodles was sprinkled with salmon nuggets. sliced red peppers, cabbage and a lovely coconut milk based sauce. The dish had a mild flavor, that was neither fishy nor spicy. It had a good balance of noodles, vegetables and fish. I thoroughly enjoyed it , though it was so generous I could easily have shared it with at least one other diner.

The dishes at TAU77 are all generous and impressive in their presentation. If you eat with your eyes you are in the right place, and you will not be disappointed with the flavors.

My companion likes his foods spicy. What I call hot to inedible, he calls flavorful. Kung Pao chicken is a stir-fried dish from the rice menu. The dish starts with chicken marinated in a sweet and sour sauce. Onions, red and green peppers, zucchini, and red chili are added to the sauce, and topped off with peanuts. Nuggests of chicken are woven through the rich sauce, served over balls of rice. The rice balances the mix of meat and vegetables very well, for a delicious dish. The Kung Pao chicken dish is prepared at different spicy levels. My companion boldly chose the most spicy, but admitted that on his next visit he will go more lightly on the spiciness.
Getting there:
There is a very large underground parking lot at 1 Rothchild, which is a delightful 5 minute walk to the restaurant down the tree-lined Rothchild Blvd.

Ahh, Tel Aviv, with a personality all of its own.

Sushi rolls are at the heart of the TAU77 menu, with several pages of choices. The sushi is bright with fresh fish and is served with sweet and sour sauces.

For fresh ingredients look no further than the Salmon Nigiri, fresh salmon slices on sushi rice. The salmon is a lovely pink, fresh, and the nigri is simple and well prepared. This is the mark of a good sushi restaurant.

Bao Buns and Wok dishes are another TAU 77 specialty. Steamed Bao buns are soft, fluffy, and satisfying, There are vegetable buns, crispy chicken buns and and slow-cooked beef buns with an Asian glaze.

Any kosher restaurant in this location cannot fall short of its non-kosher competition. And so, kosher TAU 77 stands the test. TAU 77 fits perfectly into the rhythm of Rothschild: easygoing, social, casual but stylish. The restaurant has the look and feel of a modern sushi lounge worthy of the location. There is dim lighting, a sleek bar, and a kitchen that moves quickly from sushi station to wok burners.

TAU77 us best for casual dinners, sushi nights, and sharing plates with friends in the heart of Tel Aviv. The restaurant caters sushi platters for a variety of occasions.
