Yoko Ono restaurant just keeps getting better. In the short time that it is open, the restaurant has improved its decor, the layout, the menu and the quality of the foods. Yoko Ono is an Asian fusion restaurant, with Japanese, Thai and Chinese menus and California touches. In addition, there is a full selection of sushi. The dishes are beautifully presented, and are so attractive they are almost too pretty to eat. If you eat with your eyes, and who doesn't, you have come to the right place.

Yoko Ono is a family-run restaurant where the owners are of French heritage and are shomrei kashrut themselves. In the past few months, son Natan has taken over the management of the restaurant. He has brought years of experience to the restaurant from his years in Los Angeles and extensive culinary journeys. Together with a well-known Israeli chef from a high-end restaurant, Natan fine-tuned the Yoko Ono concept. Two Asian sushi chefs at the bar present all types of exquisite sushi. The result will wow you.

The food menu in Hebrew and English, ranges from upscale starters and main dishes to moderately priced business meals. In addition to being bi-lingual, the menu also has beautiful and accurate pictures of most of the dishes, so you can easily choose a dish even if the name or description does not speak to you. There is an extensive sushi menu for in-house seating and take away, a section of sushi dishes that are suitable for pregnant women, a children’s menu, and an extensive cocktail menu.
Perusing the menu, we were alarmed to see cheese dishes and some fish that Jews don't eat. Note that Yoko Ono is a meat restaurant under the hashgacha of Beit Yosef. The cheese and cream are vegan and the shrimps are imitation.
We began our lunch with two starters from the sushi menu. The impressive Salmon Tataki is a beautifully presented bowl of torch-seared salmon, avocado, garnished with chives and roe complemented by a small salad of greens served in a gentle sweet wasabi sauce.
We followed with the Salmon Volcano, a platter of three upright sushi pieces of rice wrapped in thinly sliced avocado topped with salmon tartar. These elegant bite-size sushi were beautiful and delicate and were so delicious on their own, no condiments were needed. As a sushi lover I must admit that I have rarely experienced such creative and delicious sushi.
Chicken nems are another tasty starter from the Vietnamese kitchen. These are rolls of chicken wrapped in fried rice paper with bean sprouts, mushrooms, and rice, flavored with mint, and served with a unique sauce.
For our main dishes, we switched to the Asian menu and enjoyed two noodle dishes from the wok. My companion went with the Noodles Chow Mein chicken noodle dish. This was a generous bowl of stir-fried wheat noodles, white cabbage, carrots, and other vegetables in a homemade sauce, with chunks of chicken breast and crushed peanuts on the side for extra crunch.
Yoko Ono accommodates vegetarian diners as well, substituting tofu in meat and chicken dishes. I had the Pad Thai, which is based stir-fried rice noodles, a generous amount of vegetables and tofu, in a different sauce. We both prefered the sauce in the Pad Thai to the Chow Mein dish.
From 12 noon to 4pm Yoko Ono offers an economical business lunch. This includes each of the wok dishes described above and is served with a tasty Asian side salad. The eLuna coupon is valid from 4pm till 7pm.
This was not our first visit to Yoko Ono. Since we have been there several times over the past year, I can say with certainty that Yoko Ono is continuously improving.
