Kitchen Brasserie, Mamila
July 2025
There's a new kid on the block!
Kitchen Brasserie now takes the place of Greg Cafe in Mamilla. Kitchen Brasserie is one in the new upgraded restaurants in the Greg chain.
Kitchen Brasserie is in the same location as the former Greg Cafe, on the top floor of the enclosed mall, with an escalator up. But there the similarity ends. The moment you walk in, you can see that Kitchen Brasserie is a different restaurant. The room is redesigned, the decor is upgraded, and the menu has many new items that you will only see in high-end dairy restaurants.
The only thing you will recognize from the former Greg menu is their outstanding coffee, which is not to be missed.
"Kitchen" is a small group of quality dairy restaurants in the Greg cafe chain. Kitchen was a perfect fit for Lizzy and Arthur, owners of the Greg Cafe in Mamilla, who wanted to raise the standard of their Greg Cafe in Mamilla yet stay with the Greg chain.
Appropriately called "Kitchen," the restaurants in the new chain have an active kitchen on site, where most of the foods are made from scratch. Gone are foods that arrive pre-cooked and are warmed up at the cafe. All the foods at Kitchen, from the bread to the dessert, are made in house. It will take a little more time to get your order, but it will be worth the wait.
The new decor is bright and upbeat. Furniture is light colored and inviting. As did Greg, this restaurant has an upper and a lower seating section. There is an exit from the lower level through a bridge to the adjacent building and the elevator down to the parking area.
The menu offers dishes in categories from small to large, depending on the size of your appetite. Small starters like a bowl of olives or Adamame just whet your appetite. We skipped right over to the medium starters under the "In between" category and my companion and i shared one order of Polenta, The corn-based cereal-like grain was rich in parmesan cheese, topped with fresh mushrooms in a truffle sauce and crunchy pine nuts. The portion was just enough for each of us to taste and enjoy the dish without spoiling our appetites for the main courses.
Then came the dilemma. The menu has full descriptions of all the dishes and they are all so enticing we had trouble deciding what to choose. Pizza is one of the most popular menu items, we were told, and as it is baked in the on-site tabun oven we were tempted,
Skipping down to the Italian menu, our attention was diverted to the Baciolini, the Kitchen-original dish recommended by Liana, the charming restaurant manager. Kitchen has invented its own pasta dish, made with spinach, Parmesan cheese and almonds. The fish balls and spaghetti is another enticing dish that came highly recommended. We had almost decided to choose this unusual dish and add one of the Kitchen salads when I spied Fish & potatoes the first item on the "Big dish" menu. How can I pass that up, my favorite at every restaurant especially as the fish is delivered to the restaurant fresh every day.
After much deliberation we decided on the Galili salad from the "Garden" menu and the fish & potatoes. The restaurant, was happy to change the potatoes to chips as per my request.
The fish pieces were large like fillets, rather tnan the usual bite size, and were crispy coated.
The dish came with two dips, but I preferred the fish without additions. It was also served with a small salad, a nice addition. The Galili was a full bowl salad, dotted with cheese balls, a unique addition to the salad.
In addition to the menu described above, Kitchen offers a fine choice of breakfasts served from 9am till 1pm. There are special diet options like vegan and gluten-free dishes. In addition to Italian dishes, the menu offers some Asian dishes, like the ban, three Asian sandwiches.
I dare you to pass up either a Kitchen smoothy or a kitchen dessert.
Waiters carrying trays laden with colorful frothy drinks in tall glasses wind their way between the tables. I see that the Marscapone cadaif was the overwhelming popular dessert. It was hard to pass that up.
The pride of the Greg chain is their Gourmet coffee a fusion of quality coffee, ground from the highest quality beans. Nothing has changed about the coffee. I enjoyed a cup of Americano and my companion, a cup of cappuccino.
Visit this restaurant with friends for a special occasion - be it a birthday or another happy event. The staff will indulge you and your party, making your visit memorable.
