Efendi Middle Eastern & Turkish Restaurant
February 2022
Lets meet in the middle for some Middle Eastern food.
Efendi restaurant is located where East Jerusalem meets West Jerusalem, where an Arab and a Jew meet as partners in a glatt kosher kitchen with Middle Eastern hospitality.
Efendi is a beautifully invested restaurant. The decor is a lovely combination of wood and Jerusalem stone.
There are beautiful cut-outs and designs on the backs of the chairs and the all-leather banquettes. This is unique and something to see.

Start your meal in the traditional Middle Eastern style, with a generous table
full of salads. We counted 12 salads including 2 types of eggplant salad, techina, beet salad, red pepper salad, egg salad, olives. and more. These were served with two big round crispy pitot for the two of us. There is no charge for this salads when you order a main course.
Just look at all those meat options. My companion chose the Edna kebabs, a Turkish dish of two grilled kababs, made from chopped meat with herbs and spices, flavored with spicy hot pepper. The kebabs were layered on a generous portion of burgul. My companion is known for his tolerance for spicy foods, but even he was challenged.
The flavor was intensely good, and the meat was juicy and soft. The plate was decorated with a roasted long hot green pepper, half a roasted tomato and a piece of roasted onion. The hot pepper seemed gratuitous considering how spicy the meat was, and the other vegetables were past their prime. The side dishes effectively were the pitot and salads, together with the burghul, which was quite good.
Less spicy foods include other types of kebabs, and many grilled lamb and beef dishes, For those who prefer fish, two types of fish are available from the grill or the tabun oven. Schnitzel and chicken wings are listed under the Children’s’ menu.

After trying each of the salads with practically an entire pita, I could not eat another thing. There is always room for a fresh green salad that was served topped with crispy sweet potato chips. The salads plus the green salad made a very nice meal.
Parties:
Efendi is a great place for a party or a get-together. The restaurant can host up to 25 guests indoors and another 50 guests in an outdoor courtyard. There is a private restaurant parking lot alongside the restaurant. .
